Second Harvest Food Bank will benefit from new memberships
SANTA CLARA, CA – July 31, 2015 – Meriwest Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions serving Silicon Valley, the San Francisco Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday, July 28th celebrated the grand opening of its new Santa Clara Financial Center. Honorary guests included Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews, members of Meriwest’s Board of Directors, the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and select Ambassadors, and Jennie Nguyenly, Annual Fund Officer of the Second Harvest Food Bank.
It was a sunny afternoon as guests gathered in the newest Meriwest location inside the Santa Clara Town Centre. Attendees enjoyed a variety of refreshments while checking out the center’s modern design, complimentary cyber café and financial resource center.
In his opening address to the crowd present at the reception, Meriwest SVP and Chief Experience Officer Tony Cortez thanked the guests for attending and introduced the first honorary speaker, Chairman of the Meriwest Board of Directors Stanley Chapman. Mr. Cortez also announced that through August 15th, Meriwest will donate $10 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties for each new membership opened at the Santa Clara Financial Center.
"Meriwest continues to be a generous supporter," said Jennie Nguyenly, Annual Fund Officer at Second Harvest Food Bank. "The new membership promotion is on top of their support of our holiday campaign every year."
Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews also spoke highly of Meriwest’s community involvement before cutting the ribbon with Meriwest President and CEO, Julie Kirsch. “On behalf of the city of Santa Clara, I am pleased to welcome Meriwest back into our community,” Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews said. “Meriwest has a longstanding tradition of supporting the community by providing great financial services and constantly giving to local nonprofit organizations, such as Second Harvest Food Bank. They have had a strong presence throughout the Bay Area for decades, and it is a delight to now have even more of a physical presence in the Santa Clara community.”
“Although research suggests that more people are gravitating to online channels for personal banking interaction, Meriwest believes it is vital for our current and future members to have options," said Julie Kirsch. "This Financial Center demonstrates our commitment to our customers and the community to provide a place where you are always welcome; to provide a space where you get knowledgeable and professional service. We are delighted to be back in Santa Clara and to be a part of the beautiful and thriving community."
