Meriwest Empowers High School Students to Make Informed Financial Decisions through Innovative New Program

SAN JOSE, CA – July 5, 2017  Meriwest Credit Union today announced a new initiative to bring financial literacy education to local high school students by providing them with access to the EverFi™ — Financial Literacy/ Vault™ — Understanding Money learning platform. This web-based program uses the latest in new media technology –simulations, avatars, gaming and adaptive-pathing – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. Through this platform, students will become certified in hundreds of topics in personal finance, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens. Meriwest has partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring the interactive financial management program to these high/elementary school students at no cost to the school(s).

Meriwest Sponsors FHLB Grant for Habitat for Humanity Development

SAN JOSE, CA – June 15, 2017– $162,500 Housing Grant for Low Income First-Time Home-buyers

Meriwest Credit Union announced today that they have sponsored a successful Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco Affordable Housing Program grant application on behalf of the Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley. The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco uses their profits to support affordable housing projects. Member institutions, such as Meriwest Credit Union, can sponsor Affordable Housing Program applications from community development organizations with residential projects in need of financing.

Meriwest Credit Union was proud to recently sponsor Assistance League of San Jose with a $3,000 grant through Autoland, LLC - Auto Buying's charitable grant program. The funds will help support ALSJ's Readers are Leaders program.

Meriwest Awarded WISH & IDEA Grant Sponsorships

SAN JOSE, CA – April 3, 2017 – FHLB Approves $130K in Loan Program Grant Funds to CU

The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco approved Meriwest Credit Union’s request for grant funds to be used to help local working families earning less than the median income access to home ownership. Meriwest Credit Union was approved for funds on two grant programs; $100k will be granted for the WISH (Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership) Program and $30k for the IDEA (Individual Development and Empowerment Account) Program. The granted funds are utilized as downpayment assistance for qualified working families in the communities Meriwest serves.
